Steve and his wife Janet moved to Pittsburgh in 1990, where Steve became the first Executive Director of Pittsburgh Habitat for Humanity, overseeing the renovation of 12 homes in Braddock and Wilkinsburg. He then joined Hosanna House as Project Manager, helping transform a former middle school into a thriving community hub with workforce, housing, health, and youth programs, growing the organization to 75 staff by 2008.

In 2009, Steve became Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, expanding it from a small nonprofit to a $5.6 million organization, completing over 100 home rehabs annually. He returned to Hosanna House in 2021 as COO to lead program development and community revitalization efforts. Steve and Janet remain deeply engaged in Wilkinsburg, where they’ve raised two community-minded children.
